Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation
Rheumatology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the locomotor system. Depending on the disease pattern, the skin, internal organs or nervous system may be affected as well.
We offer you advice, consultation and treatment of:
- Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew’s disease, collagenoses and vasculitides)
- Degenerative diseases of the joints and spine (e.g. arthrosis)
- Diseases of the locomotor system caused by metabolic disorders (e.g. osteoporosis, gout or diabetes)
- Chronic pain diseases (e.g. fibromyalgia)
In orthopaedics, a distinction must be made between surgical and non-surgical orthopaedics.
In non-surgical orthopaedics, disease patterns affecting the locomotor system are assessed and treated with non-surgical methods. This encompasses diseases of and injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints and the spine.
We specialise in various state-of-the-art treatment methods for these disorders. There are only few centers that have focused exclusively on these methods for decades. Complicated surgery can often be avoided after precise analysis of the problem.
Surgical orthopaedics deals with surgery of the locomotor system (see relevant section).
We offer you advice, consultation and treatment of:
- Arthroses of the joints and back
- Tendon inflammation and injuries
- Backache
- Muscle pain and injuries
- Ligament injuries to joints (pulled ligaments, sprains)
- Joint injuries to menisci and cartilage
Diagnostics:
- Detailed patient history and examination of the locomotor system (The entire locomotor system is carefully examined using manual techniques, and the cause of the complaint is analysed in order to devise an appropriate therapy that has a long-term effect. A holistic approach is adopted towards the patient’s requirements and expectations.)
- Imaging examinations: X-ray, ultrasound examinations, MRI, CT scans, etc. (These examinations can be very important, but they may only be evaluated in conjunction with a detailed examination of the patient.)
